Real Estate Agents Face Month’s Suspension or Dh 50 Thousand Fine for Using “Cold Calls”

The Real Estate Regulatory Agency (RERA), which is the Dubai Land Department’s regulatory arm, has lately issued the final warning to all property agents on the consequences of the “cold calls” use to the emirate’s subscribers. If violating this law, companies are to face fines of up to 50 thousand dirhams or a month’s suspension.

Director of RERA Ali Abdulla Al Ali said in his statement: “In spite of the fact that some agencies have already been fined, real estate agents continue to use “cold calls”, thereby breaking the law.” He also underlined that this practice is unacceptable for Dubai and only irritates customers, as well as creates a negative image of other companies complying with the law.

It should be recalled that in accordance to the current legislation of Dubai, any company has not the right to call the subscribers of the emirate in order to impose its services or goods, even via such applications as Viber and WhatsApp.
